Pope Francis Shows Support for Equal Pay

While addressing a crowd Wednesday at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis expressed his thoughts towards equal pay for men and women, reports TIME. “Why is it expected that women must earn less than men?” he said, “No! They have the same rights. The disparity is a pure scandal.”

In that same address, he encouraged the crowd of Christian followers to take a deeper and more serious look at these issues. The religious leader’s choice to publically state his concerns about pay inequality shows that it doesn’t need to be #EqualPayDay to speak out on the matter. We’re happy to see more influential men who also want to work towards equal gender rights for all.
