Powerful Statements from the Fortune Most Powerful Women International Summit
The fifth Fortune Most Powerful Women International Summit was held in London last week, celebrating and bringing together female trailblazers, with prominent women representing business, government, media, philanthropy and the arts.
Since its inception as a list 18 years ago, Fortune Most Powerful Women has expanded exponentially, with its International Summit the linchpin of the global institution.
As you can imagine, with some of the world’s most powerful and successful women on stage, the participants gave some thought-provoking quotes. Here are some of our favorites:
Lubna Olayan, CEO of Olayan Financing Company, '…women do drive in Saudi, it might be only in the desert for now, but I believe that women’s right to drive across Saudi Arabia is "coming very soon.”’
Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Tolerance, United Arab Emirates, 'We all fail, but we fall forward when we do'.
Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister, Denmark and Chief Executive Officer, Save the Children International, 'there is room in Europe for a million more people - we must help. With sharing of the burden it can be done', and 'courage creates more courage - be scared and do it anyway'.
Yonca Brunini, Vice President of Marketing EMEA at Google, 'The most googled word in Syria is Germany'.
Mary Portas, ‘If I could change anything for women by 2020, it would be better maternity leave. We need to make it easier for women to have children’.
