See Natalie Portman as Jacqueline Kennedy in the Trailer for Her New Film "Jackie"
Oct 6, 2016
Yes, the Academy Award-winning actress takes on the famous First Lady in her new film, aptly titled "Jackie." Kennedy is one of America's most-beloved political figures, so Portman had some big shoes to fill when she took on the part — but she filled them and then some.
In the new trailer for "Jackie," which dropped on Wednesday, October 5, Portman not only looks exactly like Kennedy — down to the hem of her suits — she sounds like her too. Portman mimics Kennedy's drawl with shocking, poignant accuracy. I smell an Oscar.
The film seems to be an intimate portrait of Kennedy's private life. The trailer alone features scenes of her in a car, mourning the death of her husband, John F. Kennedy, and crying in the shower.
Kennedy's most memorable outfits are on display too, including the pink Chanel suit that became a symbol of her husband's assassination and piece of 1960s iconography.
If Portman does win the Oscar for this — I know it's early, sue me! — it would be her second golden statue. She took home the Best Actress prize in 2011 for her turn as a psychologically disturbed ballerina in "Black Swan."

The film also stars Greta Gerwig and Peter Sarsgaard. It hits theaters in select cities on December 2.
