U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill On Her New Book "Plenty Ladylike"

U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill appeared on AOL's BUILD series Wednesday at AOL headquarters in New York.

The U.S. Senator talked about her new book, "Plenty Ladylike," a new memoir about "her inspiring story of embracing her ambition, surviving sexist slings, making a family, losing a husband, outsmarting her enemies  and finding joy along the way.”

"I hope [this book] is a way for women to see ambition and strategic risk taking as something that's very ladylike," said McCaskill. "I wanted to see that message that it’s very ladylike to outspoken, aggressive and go for it."

During her discussion, McCaskill talked about facing sexism, family struggles, and becoming Missouri's first female senator in 2007.

"I really want young women to get comfortable with not being perfect, making mistakes, taking risks, being focused and having loads of ambition. Our country will be better for it."
