Serena Williams, the Greatest Athlete In the World, Is Pregnant

And unto the Williams Dynasty, an heir shall be born. Serena Williams is pregnant! The tennis superstar revealed the news on Snapchat today, posting a mirror selfie of her baby bump in a canary yellow one-piece with a trendy body chain. The picture was captioned "20 Weeks," which means Venus has approximately five months left to find the perfect infant-sized racquet to give her new niece or nephew.

Williams and her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, got engaged at the end of 2016. Williams even wrote a poem about it (posted on Reddit, naturally), that you can read here. Last year was an incredible one for Williams who, in addition to appearing in Beyonce's visual album Lemonade and becoming engaged, won her 22nd grand slam title and launched a line of bras. And she was on the cover of Glamour!

In that interview, talking to Melissa Harris-Perry, Williams was upfront about her desire for children:

MHP: You mentioned kids. Do you want a family of your own?

SW: Yeah. I definitely want to have kids one day. That’s something I’ve always wanted since as long as I could remember. And the older I get, the more I’m like, “I’m too young!” [Laughs.]

MHP: The older you get, the more real it gets, the more you realize how hard parenting is, right?

SW: Yeah. I was just joking with Venus about this yesterday and saying, “I’m far too young!” Hopefully I’ll be able to mature one of these days, get serious, and at least have them pretty fast.

Mission accomplished. Mega congrats to the couple and also to their future baby. That is one lucky kid.
