"Boo Don't Need a Petition": Shonda Rhimes Shows Support for Cast Member's BET Speech
After a whirlwind of backlash for the speech he gave for his acceptance of the 2016 BET Humanitarian Award, "Grey's Anatomy" actor Jesse Williams took to Twitter to express his disappointment in the criticism he has received.
Do not promote empty people & their tantrums. Pure clickbait to gain followers, attention & money, for themselves, not you. Never you.— jesseWilliams. (@iJesseWilliams) July 3, 2016
Despite the recent petition deeming the speech "racist" and insisting Williams be fired from ABC, many celebrities and fans took to Twitter to openly voice their support of his speech. Among them? Cast-mate Shonda Rhimes.

Eventually mentioning the petition explicitly:
Um, people? Boo don't need a petition. #shondalandrules— shonda rhimes (@shondarhimes) July 5, 2016
