Some Think Sheryl Sandberg Should Run for President in 2020

Dec 19, 2016

Sitting just two seats away from President-elect Donald Trump at his recent tech summit, was Facebook COO and MAKER Sheryl Sandberg.

"We want you to keep going with the incredible innovation," Trump said to the tech titans in the room. Alongside Sandberg were Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Tesla's Elon Musk, Apple's Tim Cook, and more.

"There's no one like you in the world ... anything we can do to help this go along, we're going to be there for you," he continued.

Sandberg took advantage of Trump's invitation, pushing for some very important issues to women. Not only did she put pressure on Trump to focus on "the need for more STEM education initiatives for women and underrepresented minorities," according to Women in the World, she also brought up paid family leave issues.

So would Sandberg make an ideal Presidential candidate? Some, like Amy Davidson of the New Yorker think so.

"Sandberg is ambitious and talented and a far better businessperson than Donald Trump," Davidson points out, who wrote an article titled, "Thirteen Women Who Should Think About Running for President in 2020."

"She could lean in on the debate stage," Davidson continued.

Other MAKERS like Elizabeth Warren, Tulsi Gabbard, Val Demings, and Tammy Baldwin were featured as women who should consider stepping up to the plate in 2020.
