St. Vincent Performs New Song Backed by a Teen Girl Dance Crew

St. Vincent’s new single debuted during the credits of Lena Dunham’s Girls, but on Monday night, she performed “Teenage Talk” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. St. Vincent sings of suburban mistakes and young love, backed by a crew of real-life ponytailed teens who perform calm dance moves in perfect sync.

Girlsmusic supervisor Manish Raval said when Lena Dunham first heard the song, she “flipped for it,” leading to the song’s placement in the credits of the episode “Tad & Loreen & Avi & Shanaz.”

This single comes after Annie Clark’s first Grammy, for Best Alternative Music Album. While she wasn’t present at the awards ceremony, she wrote an amazing acceptance letter, which includes the paragraph:

"i have eaten years of veggie subway sandwiches on highways 10-90, stayed at a super 8 motel behind a kansas federal prison, peed in cups in dressing rooms when there was no bathroom, gotten eaten alive by bedbugs at a cincinnati days inn. i would not trade a single highway or city or moment or person i met for anything. i have loved it all."
