Time's Up Joins the 2018 MAKERS Conference Lineup
Jan 30, 2018
Time's Up has become the battlecry for 2018. Now the coalition will raise their voices for real change live at the 2018 MAKERS Conference.
A Time's Up panel featuring Maha Dakhil, Rashida Jones, Melina Matsoukas, Katie McGrath, Natalie Portman, Nina Shaw, Jill Soloway and Tina Tchen will step onto the MAKERS stage at NeueHouse Hollywood on Feb. 5 and use the event as a powerful platform to discuss their action plan. Ava DuVernay will be the moderator for the powerful panel that will be streaming live on Feb. 5 at 8:30PM ET/5:30 PT.
"It's exciting to watch a new movement in the making," says MAKERS Founder and Executive Producer, Dyllan McGee. "We're honored that Time's Up will be an integral part of the 2018 MAKERS Conference, sharing the story of how they began and how they will raise their voices to make a lasting impact."
TIME'S UP has been a unified call for change for women everywhere. The campaign addresses systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that has kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential. Since launching, TIME'S UP has focused on action—raising nearly 20 million dollars for the TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund (TULDF). Housed at and administered by the National Women's Law Center, TULDF helps women and men who face workplace sexual harassment connect with legal representation and public relations assistance. From movie sets to farm fields to boardrooms alike, the TIME'S UP movement envisions a nationwide leadership that reflects the world in which we live.
Other voices will join the chorus to advance the feminist agenda at MAKERS' three-day event. Liza Koshy, Lydia Polgreen, Gabourey Sidibe, Amber Tamblyn, Abby Wambach and Glennon Doyle will also engage in conversations ranging from the power of social media to how diverse voices are needed at every table, in every room, at every level.
Previously announced changeMAKERS who will appear at the MAKERS Conference include Gloria Steinem, Jane Fonda, Lena Waithe, Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani, Cleo Wade, Monica Ramirez, Jessica Biel, Lena Dunham, Karlie Kloss, Sallie Krawcheck, Malcolm D. Lee, Saundra Pelletier, Cleo Wade, Sheryl Sandberg, and Bozoma Saint John.
Dozens of other notable actors, influencers and business leaders will speak as well—female farmworkers activist and Alianza Nacional de Campesinas' Co-founder and President Mónica Ramírez, lawyer and Restaurant Opportunities Centers United Co-founder and President Saru Jayaraman, Baby2Baby Co-Presidents Norah Weinstein and Kelly Sawyer Patricof, Board Member and Ambassador Nicole Richie, and 11-year old female scientist and Flint, Michigan water crisis advocate Gitanjali Rao.
