Valerie Jarrett and The White House Summit on Working Families

Jun 23, 2014

Today marks The White House Summit on Working Families and MAKERS is there talking to the attendees like Nancy Pelosi, Dr. Jill Biden, and more.

In honor of the summit, MAKERS has helped to build awareness of the topics that are being covered at the summit. We launched last week with an excerpt from our interview with Valerie Jarrett, the Senior Advisor to the President, and stories about workplace issues like equal pay, pregnancy, and leadership.

The summit, taking place today, explores how, as the demographics of our workforce change, our workplaces can change with them to support working families, boost businesses' bottom lines, and ensure America's global economic competitiveness in the coming decades. The Summit is convening businesses, economists, labor leaders, legislators, advocates and the media for a discussion on issues facing the entire spectrum of working families – from low-wage workers to corporate executives; from young parents to baby boomers caring for their own aging parents.

In addition to the stories about topics discussed at the summit, MAKERS also created videos with excerpts from other MAKERS such as Barbara Walters, Madeleine Albright, and Wendy Clark commenting on the issues women face at the workplace, talking about their own experiences, and offering solutions to help solve the problems.
