Watch the Trailer for Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin's New Netflix Series, "Grace and Frankie"

The trailer for Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin's new Netflix series is finally here! Out on May 8, the series is about two women whose husbands leave them—for each other. What follows is a story of conflict and friendship. As Fonda puts it, "it's funny, but it's also kind of poignant and serious. It's the kind of thing I like a lot—funny and also there are tears."

Speaking at AOL BUILD on Tuesday, Fonda talked about why she was initially attracted to the Grace and Frankie script: "Ever since I got old, I wanted to give a cultural face to older women, and television is the place to do it. Television is much more forgiving to women in general, and older women in particular. And it's where all the good writing seems to be," she explained. So when the show's creator, Marta Kauffman (of "Friends" fame) approached Fonda with the script, and mentioned that Fonda's friend Lily Tomlin would be involved, Fonda jumped.

"It's so rare to find a multidimensional part for women, older women in particular, and when they come along, you grab them." Watch the trailer, then find out more about Jane Fonda's long career, and why she's most excited for her "third act":
