Director Emerita at McKinsey & Company, Joanna Barsh served consumer-facing clients for over 30 years, helping with growth, performance transformation and leadership effectiveness challenges. And in 2008, Joanna launched The Centered Leadership Project at McKinsey to develop men and women leaders seeking to transform their organizations. Joanna is also the best-selling author of "How Remarkable Women Lead and Centered Leadership." Her new book on helping Millennials grow faster through work challenges will be published by McGraw-Hill in fall 2017.
Joanna is a strong advocate for women. Joanna served on NYC’s Commission on Women’s Issues from 2002-2013, invited by Mayor Bloomberg. She led ground-breaking research for The Wall Street Journal’s Women in Econ Task Force in 2011 and 2012 and for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2013. She has spoken at Google Zeitgeist, Fortune’s Most Powerful Women summit, DB’s Women on Wall Street and Women in Asia summits, the EVE Programme in France and in China, MAKERS2014 and at over 100 companies including American Express, Cargill, Citi, ebay, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Time Warner, and Walmart. She has engaged with business and government leaders globally, visiting 20 countries in the past few years.
Today, Joanna co-chairs the Leadership Working Group on Clinton’s International Council of Women Business Leaders. She serves on the board of Genesco Inc. In addition, Joanna is on the Governing Council of the newly established Vedica Scholars Programme in India. Joanna holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Chicago and Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar.
