Guo Jianmei is a human rights activist, lawyer and founder of the Women’s Legal Research and Services Center. Born into a family of peasants in 1960, Jianmei witnessed severe inequalities for the women in her family. After the Conference, Jianmei threw herself into public advocacy and NGO work, and in 2007 received the Global Leadership Award from Hillary Clinton. She has published 8 books and continues to work as an editor for popular law publications. As of 2013, she and her legal team have provided thousands with legal aid and council.
