Denise Castillo-Rhodes is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Texas Medical Center. In this position, she is responsible for accounting, finance, billing and collections, tax compliance, debt management and investments. Denise serves as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee of Thermal Energy Corporation (“TECO”) and on its Executive Committee. She also serves on the Audit and Finance Committee of the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library, a Texas Medical Center Member Institution. Prior to joining Texas Medical Center, Denise was the Controller at Nabisco’s Houston manufacturing facility where she held various positions and traveled to other sister Nabisco facilities to provide guidance and assistance on numerous projects. Before Nabisco, she worked in the Tax Department of Ernst & Young LLP. In addition to her role as CFO of Texas Medical Center, Denise serves on the Board of Directors and is Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of the University of St. Thomas, in Houston and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee of Medical Bridges. Among many others, Denise serves on the finance committee of the Post Oak Montessori School in Houston and the Board of Directors of the Houston Better Business Bureau. She has received many honors, including being named one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Houston in 2015, invited to join the International Women’s Forum in 2016, and awarded Businesswomen of the Year in the non-profit category at the 2016 Houston Business Journal Women Who Mean Business awards event. Most recently Denise was nominated by d-mars.com as a 2016 Top 30 Influential Woman of Houston honoree for her hard work and dedication to the community. Denise holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas.
