Can poverty be addressed through product design? This is the goal of Heather Fleming whose design firm, Catapult Design, develops technology and service solutions for low-income and impoverished communities.
Heather Fleming is the Founder and CEO of Catapult Design, a non-profit design firm that develops and delivers technology and service solutions to low-income and underserved communities worldwide. Catapult Design provides engineering and implementation support for emerging markets, and their clients include companies and organizations working to provide technology solutions – such as rural electrification, water purification and transport, food security, and health – for impoverished communities. Prior to founding Catapult Design, Heather was an Adjunct Lecturer at Stanford University and a Senior Lecturer at California College of the Arts. She is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader as well as a Pop!Tech Social Innovation Fellow.
